Public Notice

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and guidance from the US Department of Labor require Idaho to develop a policy that addresses local area designation issues in consultation with the State Workforce Development Council and chief local elected officials, after the consideration of public comments. A draft policy for the designation of local workforce development areas under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is available for public comment.

Although Idaho currently has no local workforce boards other than the State Council, the state must still comply with the U.S. Department of Labor’s guidance to develop a policy for the appointment of local board members.

These documents are available for public review and comments until September 20, 2015. Upon conclusion of the public comment period, comments will be submitted to the Workforce Development Council. At the October 19, 2015 Workforce Development Council meeting, the Council will be asked to formally adopt or modify the policies. The Council will also be asked to recommend the two existing local areas for initial designation through June 30, 2017.

Comments may be submitted via email to through September 20, 2015.
