In its recent list of the 50 Women of the Year for 2016, Idaho Business Review included Rebecca Noah Casper, the Mayor of the City of Idaho Falls, as one of those inspiring women.

Casper grew up in Arizona.  She earned a BA in 1985 and an MA in 1987 in Political Science from BYU-Provo, and a Ph.D. from UC-Berkeley in 1998.  Prior to earning her degrees, Casper worked as a research associate at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.

Casper has served as an Adjunct Professor teaching political science courses at Eastern Idaho Technical College and BYU-Idaho.  She also owns Omnia Strategies, a political and professional consulting business and has worked on issue and candidate campaigns, conducted issue research, and advocated for issues at the local and state level, including water policy and economic development.

Rebecca was elected Mayor of Idaho Falls in November 2013.  She is a District Director on the AIC Board of Directors and a member of the AIC Legislative Committee.

The City of Idaho Falls has its own power utility and Rebecca is deeply involved in energy issues.  She is an advocate for higher education and co-founded the Mayor’s Scholarship Fund, which has given nearly $350,000 to middle school and high school students to help them pursue higher education.

Congratulations Mayor Casper!
